Esse subs\u00eddio foi concedido com base no progresso e na for\u00e7a do desenvolvimento da tecnologia e da equipe do projeto. A Berkeley Marine Robotics pretende utilizar esse subs\u00eddio para realizar mais estudos de mercado e abordar poss\u00edveis parceiros entre os setores de pesquisa submarina e servi\u00e7os mar\u00edtimos.<\/p>\n<p>Os oceanos permaneceram por muito tempo como a \u00faltima fronteira da explora\u00e7\u00e3o, apesar de cobrirem 70% do nosso planeta. Mais de 80% desse fundo do mar ainda permanecem n\u00e3o mapeados e inexplorados. Um dos desafios t\u00e9cnicos mais significativos para a explora\u00e7\u00e3o tem sido a efic\u00e1cia subaqu\u00e1tica limitada dos sinais de r\u00e1dio e de outros m\u00e9todos de comunica\u00e7\u00e3o tradicionais. Os equipamentos existentes de submers\u00edveis tripulados e ve\u00edculos operados remotamente s\u00e3o limitados em escopo e escala e envolvem fatores de custo e risco significativos.<\/p>\n<p>A Berkeley Marine Robotics est\u00e1 trabalhando para solucionar esses obst\u00e1culos por meio de tecnologias com patente pendente em comunica\u00e7\u00e3o subaqu\u00e1tica sem fio e capacidade de manobra de enxame aut\u00f4nomo. Sua equipe desenvolveu um modelo de custo ultrabaixo de dispositivos rob\u00f3ticos que podem trabalhar em conjunto e gerar dados marinhos em grande escala com aprendizado de m\u00e1quina para pesquisa e ind\u00fastria.
